Love Song Reel: example videos
Five fictional couples. Every photo is AI-generated; no real people. Each example has a full video and the preview a buyer sees before paying $29.
What to judge: whether you'd post these, whether the vocals sound good (I checked names and sync by transcribing the audio, but nobody has listened), and whether the photos read as real phone photos.
Cost per video: $0.06–0.18 of fal music (MiniMax Music v2, $0.03 a take, 2 takes per attempt) plus about $0.07 of lyrics through the Vercel AI Gateway (Opus 5.5), measured on the Kenji & Tomás run. The first four were written through the Claude CLI before the gateway switch; their 'lyrics' column is the CLI's API-equivalent figure (about $0.29, mostly Claude Code's own system prompt), not a charge. Example photos cost extra ($0.08 each); customers supply their own.
Time: Kenji & Tomás ran on a quiet machine: 281 s wall, under the 5-minute target. The other four ran while several agents shared the Mac (load average 50–90 on 12 cores), which inflated them to 486–795 s. About 2 minutes of every run is fal generating the song.

Inside jokes: He still owes her one dollar and pays 'interest' in nacho cheese chips; Nnamdi learning to two-step and stepping on her boots. Memories: Buying a little house with a porch in Norman; Their dog Biscuit sleeping on his feet; Watching summer storms roll in from the porch swing.
Names: respelled for the singer: Kaylee → "Kay-lee", Nnamdi → "Nahm-dee". Name check: Kaylee heard 3/3, Nnamdi heard 2/3.
Cost: $0.06 fal music (1 take(s) checked, 2 generated per attempt); lyrics via Claude CLI (API-equivalent $0.29, not billed).
Time: 486 s wall: lyrics 46 s, song 120 s, transcribe/check 85 s, render 192 s, preview 34 s.
Notes: Re-shot once. The first render's photos showed a Doritos logo and beer-brand neon; the story now says 'nacho cheese chips' and the photos are debranded. The first version's 20 s instrumental intro was also cut to 6 s.
Lyrics
*Verse 1*
Outside of Tulsa under gas station light
Your card said no to a bag of nacho cheese
I paid it, told you the name was Kaylee
Pushed your dollar back and said, keep it, please
*Chorus*
You still owe me one dollar, Nnamdi
Payin' interest in nacho cheese
Don't you ever pay it back in full
Stay in debt to me for keeps
*Verse 2*
We got a little house with a porch in Norman
Biscuit sleepin' right on top of your feet
You two-step in the kitchen on my boots
Sayin' sorry, Kaylee, and you lose the beat
*Chorus*
You still owe me one dollar, Nnamdi
Payin' interest in nacho cheese
Don't you ever pay it back in full
Stay in debt to me for keeps
*Bridge*
Summer storm rollin' in, porch swing swayin' slow
You whisper, Kaylee, we ain't got nowhere to go
*Chorus*
You still owe me one dollar, Nnamdi
Payin' interest in nacho cheese
Don't you ever pay it back in full
Stay in debt to me for keeps
2. Siobhan & Mateo: "The Chaperone"
Preview buyers see (22 s, from 21 s)Full video
Genre / occasion: Acoustic, male vocal · Valentine's Day, from Mateo to Siobhan
Story: Mateo was on a semester abroad in Dublin. Siobhan, a nursing student, spilled a whole flat white on his shoes in a cafe on Camden Street during a downpour, then walked him to his bus under her tiny broken umbrella. Inside jokes: The broken umbrella they still keep by the door and call 'the chaperone'; Their cat Potato, who only listens to Siobhan. Memories: Their first snow together in Chicago, when Siobhan made a snow angel in her scrubs after a night shift; Burnt-pancake Sundays in their tiny Pilsen apartment; Driving to Door County and getting lost looking for a cherry stand.
Names: respelled for the singer: Siobhan → "Shiv-awn", Mateo → "Mah-tay-oh". Name check: Siobhan heard 5/5, Mateo heard 4/3.
Cost: $0.06 fal music (1 take(s) checked, 2 generated per attempt); lyrics via Claude CLI (API-equivalent $0.30, not billed).
Time: 564 s wall: lyrics 56 s, song 122 s, transcribe/check 104 s, render 244 s, preview 27 s.
Notes: Passed on the first take. Whisper wrote Siobhan as 'Chivon' every time, which is the correct pronunciation.
Lyrics
*Verse 1*
Rain was pouring down on Camden Street
Your flat white landed on Mateo's shoes
Siobhan, you walked me there on soaking feet
One broken umbrella covering two
*Chorus*
Siobhan, let it pour like Dublin rain
The chaperone still leans beside our door
I'd walk you through a downpour once again
Spill your flat white, I'll just ask for more
*Verse 2*
First Chicago snow, you'd worked all night
Made an angel in your scrubs, the street gone white
Burnt-pancake Sundays, smoke in Pilsen air
Potato walks past Mateo to your chair
*Chorus*
Siobhan, let it pour like Dublin rain
The chaperone still leans beside our door
I'd walk you through a downpour once again
Spill your flat white, I'll just ask for more
*Bridge*
Lost in Door County, still no cherry stand
You laughed at every wrong turn that I planned
Siobhan, it's Mateo, the boy with coffee shoes
Still lost, still yours, still following you
*Chorus*
Siobhan, let it pour like Dublin rain
The chaperone still leans beside our door
I'd walk you through a downpour once again
Spill your flat white, I'll just ask for more
3. Bernice & Walter: "Like You Might Fall"
Preview buyers see (22 s, from 12 s)Full video
Genre / occasion: R&B / soul, female vocal · Anniversary, from Bernice to Walter
Story: At the Skate Palace roller rink in Atlanta in 1984. Walter could not skate at all; he grabbed Bernice's hand to stop falling and did not let go for the rest of the song. Inside jokes: Walter's sweet potato pie, which is famously terrible and which he still makes every Thanksgiving; Walter calls her 'Niecy' and still opens her car door. Memories: Slow dancing in the kitchen on Sunday nights to their old records; Raising three kids and now spoiling five grandbabies; Their honeymoon in Savannah when it rained all week and they didn't mind.
Names: respelled for the singer: Bernice → "Ber-neess", Niecy → "Nee-see". Name check: Bernice heard 2/3, Walter heard 5/6.
Cost: $0.12 fal music (4 take(s) checked, 2 generated per attempt); lyrics via Claude CLI (API-equivalent $0.30, not billed).
Time: 795 s wall: lyrics 53 s, song 233 s, transcribe/check 420 s, render 63 s, preview 22 s.
Notes: Needed 4 takes. In the first three, 'Bernice' came out mumbled; in the kept take whisper hears 'Bernese' / 'burnies'. Listen for whether 'Bernice' lands. 'Niecy' is heard as 'Nisi', which is correct.
Lyrics
*Verse 1*
Skate Palace, Atlanta, nineteen eighty-four
Walter, you were wobbling all across the floor
You grabbed my hand to keep yourself upright
And held it till the song was done that night
*Chorus*
Walter, you still hold my hand like you might fall
Still open my car door, still call me Niecy
Your Bernice, forty years, and loving you is easy
Hold on tight, baby, I'll catch you when you fall
*Verse 2*
Savannah rained on us for one whole week
We didn't mind, we had everything we'd need
Sunday nights, old records, kitchen light down low
You sway me by the sink, Walter, nice and slow
*Chorus*
Walter, you still hold my hand like you might fall
Still open my car door, still call me Niecy
Your Bernice, forty years, and loving you is easy
Hold on tight, baby, I'll catch you when you fall
*Bridge*
We raised three, and now we spoil five grandbabies
Thanksgiving comes, your pie's still terrible, baby
But I take a slice and kiss you for the try
I'd still choose you, Walter, over any better pie
*Chorus*
Walter, you still hold my hand like you might fall
Still open my car door, still call me Niecy
Your Bernice, forty years, and loving you is easy
Hold on tight, baby, I'll catch you when you fall
4. Priya & Marisol: "Hold My Hand Like Otters"
Preview buyers see (22 s, from 15 s)Full video
Genre / occasion: Pop, female vocal · Birthday, from Priya to Marisol
Story: Rival teams at a Tuesday pub trivia night in Austin. Both teams lost on a question about otters, and they argued about it until closing time. Inside jokes: 'Otters hold hands when they sleep so they don't drift apart' - their thing now; The Great IKEA Fight of 2023 over a bookshelf with one leftover screw; Their dog Waffles, who steals socks. Memories: A week in Lisbon eating pastel de nata every single morning; Singing badly in the car on road trips; Marisol turning 30 and still dancing like she's 19.
Names: respelled for the singer: Priya → "Pree-yuh", Marisol → "Mar-ee-sole". Name check: Priya heard 2/3, Marisol heard 2/3.
Cost: $0.18 fal music (5 take(s) checked, 2 generated per attempt); lyrics via Claude CLI (API-equivalent $0.26, not billed).
Time: 515 s wall: lyrics 33 s, song 334 s, transcribe/check 96 s, render 46 s, preview 6 s.
Notes: Needed 5 takes (3 attempts); the pop mix makes words hardest to hear. In the kept take, 'Marisol' is heard as 'Mary's soul' / 'Mariso', which is right, and 'otters' as 'daughters'. Re-rendered after an alignment fix: the first render put line 1 under an ad-lib 10 s early and left a 16 s intro.
Lyrics
*Verse 1*
Rival tables, Tuesday trivia in Austin
Both lost on otters, neither one was right
We argued till the bartender killed the lights
And Priya met her match that night
*Chorus*
Hold my hand like otters, Marisol
Sleeping close so we won't drift at all
Thirty candles, dancing like nineteen
Happy birthday to my trivia queen
*Verse 2*
The Great IKEA Fight, one leftover screw
Waffles stole my socks and stole yours too
Pastel de nata every Lisbon morning
Priya kissed the sugar off, no warning
*Chorus*
Hold my hand like otters, Marisol
Sleeping close so we won't drift at all
Thirty candles, dancing like nineteen
Happy birthday to my trivia queen
*Bridge*
Windows down, we butcher every song we know
Off-key and loud on every road we go
Priya's got your hand wherever this goes
*Chorus*
Hold my hand like otters, Marisol
Sleeping close so we won't drift at all
Thirty candles, dancing like nineteen
Happy birthday to my trivia queen
5. Kenji & Tomás: "The Fern Approved"
Preview buyers see (22 s, from 18 s)Full video
Genre / occasion: Funny (ukulele comedy), male vocal · Birthday, from Tomás to Kenji
Story: On a dating app. Kenji's first message was a photo of his fern with the caption 'she has to approve of you first'. Inside jokes: Kenji owns 47 houseplants and has named every one after a Golden Girl; Kenji snores like a leaf blower; The Thanksgiving turkey Kenji set on fire; Their endless video-game kart-racing feud - Tomás insists the blue shell is a hate crime. Memories: Their first apartment in Portland with the leaky skylight; Tomás proposing at the plant nursery; Kenji crying at every dog in every movie.
Names: respelled for the singer: Kenji → "Ken-jee", Tomás → "Toh-mahs". Name check: Kenji heard 6/5, Tomás heard 3/3.
Cost: $0.06 fal music (1 take(s) checked, 2 generated per attempt); lyrics $0.07 via AI Gateway.
Time: 281 s wall: lyrics 95 s, song 111 s, transcribe/check 17 s, render 49 s, preview 8 s.
Notes: Re-made from scratch. In the first version, whisper garbled the opening 20 s, so two lyric lines never showed and one sat on screen for 25 s. I fixed the aligner (it now drops stray words and fills missed lines) and re-ran the whole pipeline. This run is also the first with lyrics through the AI Gateway. Every line and name was heard.
Lyrics
*Verse 1*
In twenty-nineteen, Kenji, you sent a fern
Captioned she has to approve of you first
She squinted, but she let Tomás stay
Now forty-seven Golden Girls judge me all day
*Chorus*
Happy thirty-six, Kenji, keep the candles low
The fern approved of me a long time ago
Of all the things you've ever grown
I love us most, and us is home
*Verse 2*
Back in Portland, rain came through the skylight
You snored like a leaf blower half the night
Kenji, you set the Thanksgiving turkey on fire
The smoke alarm became our kitchen choir
*Chorus*
Happy thirty-six, Kenji, keep the candles low
The fern approved of me a long time ago
Of all the things you've ever grown
I love us most, and us is home
*Bridge*
You blue-shell me and laugh, it's a hate crime
Tomás will never win a kart race in this lifetime
Then at the nursery, Tomás got on one knee
You cried like I'm a movie dog on TV
*Chorus*
Happy thirty-six, Kenji, keep the candles low
The fern approved of me a long time ago
Of all the things you've ever grown
I love us most, and us is home
Known weaknesses
Photos cycle in a fixed order and aren't matched to the lyric they sit under. A 6-photo set repeats about 4 times in 2 minutes.
Vocal quality has been checked only by transcription. MiniMax v2 sometimes adds its own extra chorus or ad-libs; the video handles it, but the song runs a bit longer.
The name check is phonetic and fuzzy (at least 40% of a name's sung occurrences must be recognisable). It caught real garbles ('SIO upon' for Siobhan), but a slightly off vowel can still pass.
The fonts are macOS system fonts; a Linux render server needs equivalents.
